Mabel Powers was a woman both ahead of and behind her time. A writer, lecturer, feminist and pacifist, Powers was best known as an advocate for Native American history and culture, particularly that of the Iroquois. From 1915 until her death in 1966, she appeared on various platforms at Chautauqua Institution more than 130 times.
